Real Weddings: Bri and Chris

When I met Bri and Chris, it was on Zoom. They live in Virginia, but were getting married in Pennsylvania. So, they hired me to plan, coordinate, hire vendors and keep things organized. Together, their chemistry was visible and planning with them was so much fun. We got good at Zoom calls and 3 way chats on the phone with the venue. As I spoke to Bri and Chris, getting to know them, their tastes, their vision, their zest for life, I knew just who I was going to recommend for this wedding. I assembled a marvelous team who came together and did just what this couple wanted.

Bri and Chris chose Pen Ryn Mansion on the Delaware. She wanted to get married on the water and they loved the ambiance of the location and the history of the home. As they are world travelers, the theme of the day was TRAVEL And, as they had eloped in Hawaii, it took a front row seat in the decor. Bri collected old luggage, globes, airplanes and other travel related items. Their place cards were luggage tags and their tables were named with photos of some of the adventures they have had. Instead of a guestbook, they had vintage travel postcards and a mailbox with their last name to deposit them.

We hired Chantilly Floral to create a glorious tropical ceremony site. As guests entered the ballroom, they were met with modern, tropical centerpieces on the tables. Everything was in shades of blue and there was plenty of greenery. I have worked with Charles many times over the years and I knew that with Bri's vision, the flowers would be amazing.

When it came to music, I was sure that my "Go To" DJ's would keep this party moving. So, I made the call to Silver Sound and, as usual, they did not disappoint. From the romantic first dance to the touching parent dances, to guests not leaving the dance floor all night, this party was a smashing success.

The bride was stunning in her gold, damask wedding gown. Her red hair was the perfect backdrop for the creamy fabric and the gold pattern. And, Daneene Jensen and her amazing team made Bri even more lovely than she already is. Her hair was piled into a chignon at the base of her neck with a flower instead of a veil, and had just enough panache to make it bridal.

The ceremony was adorable! It was almost like a conversation, not a scripted event. There was plenty of ad lib and the groom was clearly nervous about speaking in front of the guests, so he made silly, loving jokes throughout and made the bride feel like a queen in the process. he wore a blue suit and had his hands in his pockets for most of the time. The officiant, who is a relative, handed them each a lei, as a symbol of their secret vows in Hawaii. Just so special to see these two recite their handwritten vows in front of family and friends.

This was one of the best weddings I have done. Every detail was addressed and every piece of it was perfect. It is always sad to say good bye to a couple after spending many months planning such a magical day. I still keep in touch with many of my couples- through kids and houses and jobs and life. And, though I haven't kept in touch with Bri and Chris, they remain in my heart and very special people.
