A bride found her dream venue. The place she could picture herself getting married. There was just one problem. She couldn't get anyone to book the tour. So she's going somewhere else. Think about that. Not because the venue was too expensive. Not because the date was unavailable. Not because she found somewhere she loved more.
Because doing business with them was too difficult. And I keep seeing versions of this everywhere.
Couples waiting days for responses. Inquiries disappearing into nowhere. Calls that aren't returned. Pricing that requires detective work. Contracts passed along without explanation. Couples chasing professionals they've already hired. Brides wondering whether they're being “difficult” simply because they're asking for answers. You are not supposed to spend your engagement fighting the wedding industry. And you certainly shouldn't need a second career in event management just because you're getting married.
Yes, planning a wedding requires decisions. Yes, you need to participate. Yes, there will be things only you can choose. But there is a tremendous difference between making the decisions and having to manage the entire proce required to make those decisions happen. That's where excellent planning earns its place. I don't believe my job is to hand you a vendor list and wish you luck. I don't believe my job is to forward you a contract I haven't thoroughly reviewed. I don't believe you should have to remind me what needs to happen next. And I absolutely don't believe a busy, capable, Type A client should end up managing me.
I believe something very simple: If you hire me to carry something, I carry it.
I ask the questions. I follow up. I notice what's missing. I connect the pieces. I push when something needs pushing. I know when something isn't right. And when the wedding day arrives, I want you experiencing it, not standing somewhere with a phone in your hand trying to solve it.
Being capable doesn't mean you should have to do everything yourself. Being discerning doesn't make you demanding. And expecting the professionals you hire to actually make your life easier is not asking too much. That's the standard. And if you're planning a wedding and thinking, “This is exactly what I've been looking for,” don't just save this post. Come talk to me. Angel of Hearts Weddings Full Service wedding planning for couples who want an experienced professional in their corner, not another person they have to manage.
