Most wedding guides begin by telling you to choose a date. Or make a guest list. Or set a budget. I'm going to ask you to do something completely different. I'm going to ask you to stop. Take a breath. And think.
For more than twenty-three years, I have sat across the table from or on a Zoom call with hundreds of engaged couples. I've watched them arrive excited, overwhelmed, hopeful, confused, terrified, and sometimes convinced that planning a wedding had already become a full-time job. Almost every one of them believed they needed answers. Most of the time, they didn't. They needed better questions.
The wedding industry is full of beautiful photographs, endless checklists, Pinterest boards, trends, opinions, and advice from every direction. It can make you believe that planning the perfect wedding begins with choosing the right venue, finding the right dress, or hiring the right vendors. It doesn't. It begins with understanding what matters to you. Because if you don't know that first, every decision that follows becomes harder than it needs to be.
Before you tour a venue. Before you interview photographers. Before you fall in love with a dress. Before you spend a single dollar… I want you and your fiancé to sit down together and answer one question. When your wedding is over, what do you hope your guests are saying about your day? Not what you hope they remember seeing. What you hope they remember feeling. Maybe it's joy. Maybe it's warmth. Maybe it's elegance. Maybe it's that two families truly became one. And, what is it that you want to feel the day after your wedding? Holding hands all day? Your first dance? The smiles and the love in the room?
There is no wrong answer. But there is incredible power in discovering it before you begin making decisions. Because once you know how you want your wedding to feel, every other choice becomes clearer. That's where you begin. Not with a checklist. With your story. Because beautiful weddings aren't built one purchase at a time. They are built one thoughtful decision at a time. If you are beginning your wedding planning journey and not sure where to begin, reach out- I’ve Got You!
