Too Many Choices

YOU DO NOT NEED MORE WEDDING CHOICES. YOU NEED SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHICH ONES MATTER.

The wedding industry has become extraordinarily good at giving couples options. You can find twenty photographers., fifteen florists, seven linen companies, four invitation designers, hundreds of Pinterest images, thousands of Instagram posts. Endless opinions about what you should have.

And then we call that helpful. I don't. Because handing an already-busy couple all of these possibilities isn't necessarily service. Sometimes it's just more work. It is confusing, it can be overwhelming and it is not productive. Social media groups are great to see what other couples are doing, but they aren't you and they have different needs. And, then there are the countless vendors speaking up to fill their calendars.

Experience should narrow the field. It should say, These three make sense for you. This one doesn't.

You're spending money here that your guests will never notice. Spend it there instead. This contract needs another look. That upgrade is worth considering. That trend has absolutely nothing to do with the wedding you told me you wanted. And occasionally, No. You don't need that at all. A good planner doesn't make every decision for you. But we should make it considerably easier for you to make the right ones.

My job isn't to show a client everything that exists. My job is to understand what they're trying to create well enough to recognize what belongs in their wedding, and what doesn't. That's what many years of experience should buy you. Not more choices. Clarity. If you're planning a wedding and you're drowning in possibilities instead of enjoying them, come talk to me. You may not need more inspiration.

You may need someone who knows how to edit.
